After multiple requests (ok 1 and it was from my cousin), here's pics of the lamps.

I'm going to get a speeding ticket tonight #fb

Do you ever have the feeling that something bad is going to happen, but you don't know what or when? I hate that. Worse, though, is knowing what and when.

I have been challenged by my husband. He promises that if he catches me speeding in his city, he will give me a ticket. Now, I would like to start by saying, I think that is very honorable! I don't think cops should give breaks to people because they are family or coworkers. I have had my fair share of tickets growing up, and frankly I deserved every one of them. Sure, I may have gotten upset, but I wasn't upset with the Cop, I was upset with myself... you know, that thing called 'taking responsibility for your actions'.

Anyhoo, so hubby made it public knowledge last night that he would actually enjoy giving me a ticket, and to me, that sounded like a challenge! I should be entering his city at approximately 5:15 this evening, and passing by the PD shortly after.

My anticipation is impossible to control...

My husband's hilarious Facebook post about the Amish at Lone Star

Just finished dinner at "Lone Star", sat next to an Amish Family in Brighton CO, awkward. It was only Awkward because I knew little about the Amish except for what I learned from "The Witness" staring Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis. So I had to wiki "The Amish". Not just "Amish" which made me wonder why they had "the" infront of "Amish" which wiki didn't answer. I mean were not "the honkies" just "Honkies".

So the more I read the more I kept watching to see it they were gonna act more "Amish" like shunning or "rumspringa" which is a word I intend on working into a casual conversation at starbuck soon. So now I am at the movies wearing buddy holly 3D glasses thinking about "THE GOD DAMN AMISH".

A Bull, A Bulb and A Bitch

So Ryan the Destructor, my bull in a china store, broke a chandelier at a garage sale today. An ugly chandelier, no less. Now, I personally feel that if something (glass) is left out and it is accidentally broken, it is just that, an accident. But, not wanting to cause issues with the neighbors, i oblige.

Then she says she was asking $40 for the pair, and she won't split them up! AND IT IS FUGLY! I asked her if she really meant $40, because I didn't think that could possibly be right. She confirmed she was asking $40. I then reminded her, that at garage sales, people don't typically get their asking price! Especially for ugly chandeliers.

Alas, she just stares at me.

So i whip out the checkbook, as I don't want to cause a problem. She won't give me her last name to fill out the check! Um, doesn't she know that I'll be able to see a copy of the check online after she cashes it? At this point, I am certain she is a liberal.

So I hand her the check, marked 'paid in full' of course, go inside, take pictures of them and put them on Craigslist for $50. Oh, the American Way!

This is what happens when your sons are left alone on the Internet

This actually happened a couple years ago, but someone at work brought it up and I had to post. My sons, who were 7 and 9 at the time, were supposed to be playing video games on my computer. After I got my computer back, I checked it's history just to make sure. The following is a list in order of their searches, typos and all, of their online adventure.

naked women showing boobes
naked women showing boobes fully
boobes not beeing coverd
people haveing sex that are naked
boobes
people haveing sex that are naked
boobs whith no braw
sex naked in showing boobs
boobs
boobs with bra off
boobs with bra out
tits with no braw
tits

Now for those of you who are not laughing hysterically at this point, of course they were punished and when they eventually were let back on the internet, much later, their usage was stringently monitored. So lighten up and laugh!

Common Sense on Earth Day #tcot

I am so proud of Nicholas, my 12 year old. This morning he told be about an incident at school on earth day. I think he waited this long to tell me because he thought I would be mad, but I wasn't.

Apparently, to celebrate Earth Day, one of his teachers was Going on and on about saving the earth, saying we are almost out of fresh water and oil blah blah blah. So her lesson plan for the say was to make each student in all of her classes make large posters about saving the earth.

My son, raised his hand and said, "if we are trying to save the earth, don't you think using all this paper to make posters is a little hypocritical? Did you drive here today, or ride your bike?"

Apparently the teacher didn't like the questions, and just ignored him. Then the other kids in class started questioning her too. In typical Liberal fashion, because she couldnt answer any of the questions, she sent 4 of the students into the hall, including my son.

I told him that I was proud of him. I explained that it is ok to question what you are told when it doesn't make sense, but to remember to always be respectful when doing so.

Junior high

So tonight was the first night Kids Night Out came back for the school year. Nicholas and Colby were excited, but Colby hasn't been feeling well so only Nicholas went. I was scheduled to pick him up at 10:15 pm.

I unexpectedly get a call at 9:40! He is ready to come home. I wonder if he is beginning to feel Ill like the rest of us, although he says he's ok.

I pick him up, and he informs me that he and his friends have decided that they are now too old to go there, being in junior high and all! He also informed me that he'll probably still attend other weekends just so he can hang out with his friends though!

He's been in junior high for 2 weeks and so far he's begun wearing cologne and is too old for kids night out!

Back to School Shopping

It's that time of year again.  I've got the school supply lists ready and need to buy back to school clothes.  My plan is to do it this weekend, over two days.  Supplies on Saturday, clothes Sunday.  But, it's already noon on Saturday and I REFUSE to take all the kids.  They are acting like complete monsters today!  It's been everything I can do to not completely freak the heck out!

I received a call from an old high school friend today who I haven't spoken with in probably 15 years.  We were on the phone for 35 minutes.  Do you think my kids showed me enough respect to give me 35 lousy minutes?  Nope.  They didn't even give me 5 minutes.  I was constantly having to correct them or referee.  I finally went in the back yard, but they followed me there, too.

Why do they do that?  The lack of respect is so disappointing, sometimes.  And now, after they have shown me no respect, I'm going to go buy hundreds of dollars worth of school supplies.

What's wrong with this picture!

Went to church today. First time in a decade

And I took my kids. Frankly I was surprised we weren't struck by lightening at the entrance! Although at one point Colby did look like he was in excruciating pain, and I could swear I saw his eyes roll back in his head.

They were pretty mad at me for making them go so I figured that means I did something right. I think I'll make them go again next week, too.
